Investigating the Causes and Impacts of Growing Antibiotic Resistance
In recent years, antibiotic resistance has been a significant health problem. Penicillin resistance is a characteristic of bacteria that makes it difficult for certain infections to be treated. The overuse of and misuse of antibiotics as well as the creation of resistant bacteria and the transmission of resistance genes among bacteria can all contribute to this phenomenon. Overuse and misuse of antibiotics are two of the main causes of antibiotic resistant bacteria. Overprescription of antibiotics or treatment for viral infections that aren’t affected by antibiotics can lead to antibiotic resistance (Liu and al., 2002). It can result in bacteria becoming resistant to antibiotics, as well as the development of drug-resistant bacteria. In addition, antibiotic-resistant bacteria may be formed when bacteria is exposed to antibiotics over a long period of time. This allows bacteria to develop resistance to antibiotics (Mandal 2019).
