Closed Loop Control Systems vs Open Loop Control Systems: What Are the Differences?
Two distinct ways of controlling an environment are the closed loop or open loop control system. They have different components and operations. A feedback mechanism, and a control element, are common components in the closed-loop control system. In a closed loop control system, the feedback mechanism is a sensor that collects information about the output. The feedback can then be used to modify the system in order to achieve the desired output. Thermocouples are used to monitor temperature, and then adjust output as needed (Khammash, et al. 2016, 2016). The control element is used to adjust the system’s output in response to the feedback information it receives. Control elements that are commonly used include motors and valves (Gonzalez Linares et. al., 2017).
Open loop systems do not include either one of these parts. It works by applying an input to the system, and then measuring its output. This means that no matter what the output produces, the input will be applied. Cont…
