Teens are being trafficked in human sex
Public education and awareness are key to reducing teenage sex slavery. According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC, 2019), “Public awareness campaigns are integral to raising awareness among potential victims, their families, and communities, and to informing them of the signs of human trafficking, as well as the services available to them” (2019). School curriculums should include education about human trafficking, as well as how to report and recognize it. Governments should create laws and regulations that reduce the likelihood of human trafficking. To help victims of human trafficking be identified and rescued, victim identification systems must also be established. Last but not least, victims of trafficking should receive more assistance, including counseling and legal help (UNODC 2019, 2019).
