Organizational Behaviour: The Enrichment Theory
Organizational behavior is the study and analysis of people’s actions within organizations. One theory explaining how employees behave at work is the Enrichment Theory. Fred Luthans’ Enrichment Theory suggests that employees feel motivated to attain their maximum potential when the job offers them challenging tasks, autonomy and feedback. (Luthans (2016) According to the Enrichment Theory, employees can be more autonomous and have greater control over their work. They also get to do challenging tasks that make them feel fulfilled. According to the theory, employees are motivated when they have more control and are given difficult tasks that make them happy. Enrichment Theory also includes feedback. This allows employees to get feedback about their performance as well as to learn from mistakes. It helps employees improve their overall performance by allowing them to take responsibility for their own mistakes and learn from those lessons.
