A Review of the Targets of MicroRNA:
The microRNAs (miRNAs), which are non-coding, small RNAs play an important role in regulatory functions within cellular processes. By binding to their target genes and inducing translation, they are important for post-transcriptional gene regulation. A wide range of biological processes are affected by miRNAs including cell differentiation and development as well as metabolism and disease. Research into miRNA targets has increased in recent years. Numerous studies have shown that miRNAs can target multiple genes at once, while a single gene could be affected by several miRNAs. (Razak and colleagues, 2016; Li and co-authors, 2021). Several bioinformatic methods have been used to find potential targets for miRNAs. These include the use of miRNA-target prediction algorithms, which employ “seed-target” recognition and other strategies to identify potential miRNA-mRNA interactions (Kumar et al., 2018; Deng and Zhang, 2019). A number of high-throughput methods, including microarrays and RNA sequencing, can be used to find miRNA targets at a genomic scale (Kumar, Zhao, and Zhang, 2020). Cont…
