Comprehensive Goal Setting Program
An athlete can overcome a mental disorder or physical condition by creating a comprehensive plan that sets clear goals and provides a roadmap to success. To begin, the athlete should start by setting specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART) goals that are tailored to their individual needs and challenges (Locke & Latham, 2022). This goal should not only be hard but also achievable. It should take into account the current capabilities, limitations, and available resources of each athlete. The athlete must then create an action plan detailing the steps that will be taken to reach their goals. This should include any training, support or other resources. As the circumstances change and progress changes, the plan needs to be flexible and adaptable.
