IoT Research and Security
Internet of Things refers the collection of devices and buildings that can be embedded with software and sensors to enable them to share and receive data. IoT is poised to revolutionize many industries, allowing for greater automation, efficiency, convenience, and other benefits. The development of secure communication protocols is a major part of IoT security research. Researchers have recommended the use of cryptographic methods such as authentication, encryption and access control to secure the confidentiality, integrity and accessibility of IoT data. Researchers have also focused their research on designing secure IoT hardware and software, and the use secure boot and firmware upgrade mechanisms to protect against tampering, unauthorized access, and other areas of IoT security (Zhang and al. 2015). It includes techniques like threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, and risk assessments to assess and identify potential vulnerabilities and risks in IoT system (Sallam and al., 2002).
