Enzyme linked immunosorbent test (ELISA) can identify the level of antibodies within the human body. For decades, the ELISA test was used as a reliable diagnostic tool in diagnosing autoimmune disorders such as lupus and rheumatoid. The ELISA test works by detecting the presence of autoantibodies, which are antibodies that attack the body’s own tissues. During the test, samples of the patient’s blood are collected and then exposed to antigens, which are molecules that stimulate the production of antibodies.
