Father and Mother inherit the gene inheritance
Each child inherits unique combinations of genes from their father and mother, making them the individual they are. The basic building blocks for life are genes, which are transmitted from one parent to the next. When a mother and father conceive a child, the father’s sperm cell and the mother’s egg cell join together to form the new baby. Every sperm and egg cell has 23 chromosomes. This gives the baby 23 pairs (Brennan 2018). Genetics play a major role in this process. Each parent passes down their own set of genes that are combined with the genes of the other parent to create the baby’s full set of genetic characteristics. A child’s genes determine their physical traits, their hair color, their health risk, and their vulnerability to certain diseases. Lambert et. al., 2002. While both parents contribute to a child’s genetic makeup, it is the mother who passes along the majority of the genetic information. Only the mother can pass down the mitochondria (small structures vital for energy production in a cell) (Galkina and al., 2016, Galkina). The mother provides the vast majority of their genetic information. Cont…..
