Protective factors of beliefs
Children and teens may be able to benefit from several potential protection factors associated with faith in God and participation in religious activities. In 2019, a literature review found positive results for both children and teens when religious engagement was encouraged. The positive outcomes for children and adolescents include improved mental health, less risk-taking behavior, higher levels prosocial behavior, as well as better mental wellbeing. In 2019, another study found that religion is linked to positive outcomes for adults. (Mahoney. et. al., 2019). Gartstein et. al., 2019 also found the same result. Another study concluded that adolescents who are involved in religious activities have lower levels of addiction to drugs and depression.
