While many people can quickly recognize health-related symptoms, it can be very difficult for some. People have different attention styles. For example, they are more concerned with their symptoms, feelings, or behaviors and are able to recognize and cope with symptoms related to their health because they are self-centered (Antonelli et al., 2022). However, because they pay more attention to their surroundings or activities, those who are more outwardly focused take longer to recognize health-related symptoms. Furthermore, people who work, are isolated, and live alone are more likely to experience health-related symptoms than those who live with others, have a social life, and work in a busy environment (Riegel et al., 2019).
