William Paley’s Teleological Argument holds that the universe, its structure, the complex ways in which it functions, and the magnificent ways in which living things function, survive, interact and interdepend to survive, represent their intelligent design. He likens this to the complex design of a watch. The purpose of intelligent design is to create an artifact that tells time. When the design changes, the watch loses its purpose. It is no different from a stone, which is thrown around. So, this premise explains the existence of watches because watchmakers create an object that tells time. To achieve this goal, the manufacturer designs and designs a watch with the sole purpose of telling the time. This forms the basis of the argument for the existence of God, the Creator and Designer of the world and all living things.
