Charles W Thomas Social Development
Charles W. Thomas, a sociologist and social worker researcher has contributed significantly to the advancement of theory on social development. In a 2018 article in “Social Work,” he proposed the notion of interactional competence, which was one of his greatest contributions. Thomas claims that interactional competence refers to the ability to navigate, negotiate, and effectively manage social relationships. This is important for overall social development. Thomas and his coauthors extended the notion of interactional competency in an article that was published in 2020 in the journal Child Development.
