Ethics Of Judging Company
The ethics of judging an entire business based on actions taken by one person can prove difficult. It depends on what the context is and how the facts are presented. A company is responsible for its employees’ actions, especially if they are connected to their business or fall within the scope of an employee’s job duties. This is where it might be appropriate for the company to be held responsible for employees’ actions. It may make sense to hold a company responsible for an employee’s illegal or fraudulent activity even though the company is known for its compliance with policies and rules. However, it is not fair to hold an employer responsible for employee actions that are not connected to its business. It may be better to concentrate on the person responsible in this instance than the whole company (Corporate responsibility and the role of business in society (2015)).
