Massachusetts has a Department of Children and Families, which helps struggling families (DCF). The Department for Children and Families, a department of the state government, helps neglected and abused children and their parents. As stated on their website (https://www.mass.gov/orgs/department-of-children-and-families), DCF offers a wide variety of services to families in need, such as: Helping families stay together and avoiding institutional care are the goals of prevention and early intervention programs. Foster care is available for children who can’t live with their parents. Adoption services are provided to help them find stable, loving homes. Children are protected from abuse, neglect and other forms of harm by the protection services. There are many ways that DCF services can be used to help a larger audience. Preventative and early interventions services can be used to find vulnerable families and give them the support they need so that children are not placed in institutions.
