Consultation in decision making
Participation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in decision-making processes and consultation with them can help increase their participation in the delivery of health services. This will allow them to be involved in designing and implementing health service delivery. The opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander to be involved in design and implementation can help achieve this (Thompson (2018)). It promotes deeper understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and spiritual needs, which can lead to improved health outcomes (Griggs 2020). It is important to consider this when designing health services to suit the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents in specific locations.
