Ethical Theory Comparison
According to the described scenario, ethical egoism is the most convincing theory. It is a belief that cheating is acceptable as long as it does not harm the applicant’s self-interest. All of these theories, however, would consider cheating immoral. According to social contract theory, cheating is against an agreement to follow norms and rules in return for security and protection. It would look at the consequences of cheating for both the individual and the nurse program and determine that it would lead to a decrease in happiness. Kantian rules ethics will argue that cheating does more harm to the friend than the nurse program.
